The beauty of ordinary days: Capturing the love we never want to forget

Over the last few months, I have had the honor of photographing quite a number of Rainbow Bridge sessions. As I have said many times before, these sessions WILL NEVER appear on my social media channels. They belong only to the family and their beloved dog, shared privately during one of the most delicate and emotional times in their lives. Being invited into someone's home during these moments is a privilege I will never take for granted.

I listen to stories about favorite spots in the sunshine, beloved toys that have lasted for years, and the every day routines that make a dog such a special part of the family. I hear about the day they first brought their puppy home, the funny habits that never changed, how their dog has been by their side through breakups, job losses, new relationships, and all the unexpected twists and turns of life.

There is so much love in these stories and often, it is the simplest, most ordinary moments that bring tears to our eyes (yes, I will cry with you). Because when a beloved dog is no longer there, it is not just the big adventures we miss but the everyday things we once took for granted. It’s the familiar paws following us from room to room or the sleepy face looking up at us in the mornings.

Sometimes, the most ordinary moments become the memories we wish we could hold on to forever.

That is why, during these sessions, I want to capture the little things that make each dog unique. The way they lick peanut butter off a spoon, offer a high five, curl up in their favorite spot, or look at their person with those beautiful, love-filled eyes. These are the moments that tell your story together.

And I would love to capture them for you, too, long before we ever have to plan a Rainbow Bridge session.

You don't have to wait until your dog is older or their health begins to change. You don't need a special occasion, a perfect home, or a perfectly behaved dog. You simply need to celebrate the life you share right now.

Whether your dog is a playful puppy, a happy adult, or a sweet senior, every chapter deserves to be remembered. And you deserve to be in those photographs, too, because your dog is not just part of your life but you are their entire world.

So take the extra moment to cuddle them, enjoy that walk, or sit together in the sunshine. And when you can, let someone capture the way you love each other, because one day, those ordinary moments may mean everything.

Your story together is happening right now. Let's capture it while you're living it.

I also want to make it very clear that if you decide you don’t ever want your session to pop up on a public social media account, then you have the right to say so and I will absolutely respect that. When you sign up for a session, you will receive a questionnaire with that exact question. I respect everyone’s privacy.
